Comparing HSA plans with and without Embedded Deductibles as of 7-28-08

Definitions:

Embedded Deductible

Each covered family member only needs to satisfy his or her individual deductible, not the entire family deductible, prior to receiving plan benefits*.

Aggregate

For employees covering dependents, the entire family deductible must be satisfied by one family member or the combined (aggregate) covered expenses of the entire family before any one family member can receive benefits*.

Below are HSA Plans with and without an embedded deductible by carrier. (If not marked “embedded,” the deductible is aggregate, meaning no coverage until entire family deductible is satisfied.)
